This 25-day “Wildlife Safari: Around the World by Private Jet” with Abercrombie & Kent was very much the latter.
An extraordinary, meticulously curated global adventure designed to bring guests face-to-face with some of the world’s most remarkable wildlife, while experiencing each destination through a lens of luxury, culture and exclusive access.
Juliet from the JL Creative team joined this remarkable journey as the official photographer, videographer and Photo Enrichment Coach. A role that blended storytelling, technical expertise and genuine connection, supporting guests with their own photography while capturing the experience in its entirety.
The journey began in Japan.
And from the very first moment, it set the tone for everything that followed.
A Private Jet Journey Designed to Inspire
To travel with Abercrombie & Kent is to experience a level of detail and care that goes far beyond traditional travel.
Guests journeyed across the globe aboard a custom Boeing 757 private jet, configured with just 50 fully lie-flat seats, creating an atmosphere that felt calm, spacious and beautifully considered.
Everything was taken care of.
From white glove passport and visa handling to a dedicated luggage manager ensuring seamless transitions between destinations, every logistical detail was handled with precision.
There is something incredibly freeing about travelling this way.
It allows you to be fully present.
And for a photographer, that presence is everything.
Tokyo: A City of Energy and Elegance
Arriving into Tokyo is an experience in itself.
The city hums with energy.
Neon lights flicker, people move with purpose and yet, somehow, there is still a deep sense of order and calm woven through it all.
Our welcome was nothing short of spectacular.
A sushi and sake dinner awaited us at the top of The Peninsula Tokyo, offering sweeping views across the city.
As the evening unfolded, Tokyo revealed itself in layers.
The glow of the skyline. The rhythm of the streets below. The quiet elegance of the dining experience above it all.
From a photographic perspective, it was a dream start.

Japan invites you to slow down.
To notice.
To appreciate detail.
Every corner holds something visually interesting, but it is often the subtle moments that carry the most meaning.
The way a doorway frames light.
The precision of a chef’s movement.
The stillness within a shrine.
As a photographer, this requires a shift in mindset.
It is less about chasing moments and more about allowing them to unfold.
Into the Mountains: The Journey to Nagano
Leaving the energy of Tokyo behind, we travelled by the Royal Express Train towards Nagano.
The landscape gradually softened.
Buildings gave way to open space, and the pace of life seemed to slow.
From there, a short trek led us into Joshinetsu Kogen National Park.
Snow fell gently around us.
The air was crisp, quiet and still.
It felt like stepping into another world.
The Snow Monkeys: A Moment of Stillness
Seeing the Japanese macaque in their natural habitat is one of those rare experiences that stays with you.
They gather in natural hot springs, their breath visible in the cold air, their expressions calm and almost contemplative.
There is no rush here.
No urgency.
Just a quiet, beautiful rhythm of life.
Photographing them is not about speed.
It is about patience.
Observing behaviour. Waiting for connection. Allowing the scene to unfold naturally.
It is a moment that feels both peaceful and powerful.
Working Across Constantly Changing Environments
One of the most fascinating aspects of this journey was the sheer variety of environments within such a short timeframe.
From snowy mountain landscapes to vibrant city scenes, from wildlife encounters to refined dining experiences, every day required a different photographic approach.
This is where preparation becomes essential.
Juliet travelled with a comprehensive kit designed to handle every scenario.
Two Canon 5D Mark IV bodies alongside a Canon R5 allowed for flexibility and reliability, especially when moving quickly between environments.
Wide-angle lenses were used to capture immersive scenes, placing the viewer directly into the moment. A 50mm prime lens brought softness and intimacy to portraits and detail shots.
For wildlife, longer lenses allowed for close-up imagery without disturbing the animals, maintaining both respect and authenticity.
Video was captured alongside stills, with additional aerial footage filmed using a drone, creating a layered and dynamic visual narrative.
Lighting equipment added further flexibility, particularly in low-light or evening settings.
Every piece of equipment had a purpose.
Every choice supported the story.
The Luxury of Seamless Travel
One of the most remarkable aspects of this journey was how effortless everything felt.
With a dedicated luggage manager travelling throughout the trip, guests never needed to handle their own bags.
For Juliet, travelling with three large camera bags, this level of support was invaluable.
It meant less time worrying about logistics and more time focused on creativity.

Cherry Blossoms and Fleeting Beauty
In Kawazu, we experienced the delicate beauty of cherry blossom season.
Soft pink hues stretched across the landscape, creating an atmosphere that felt almost dreamlike.

It is fleeting.
Temporary.
And that impermanence adds to its beauty.
Capturing it requires a gentle approach.

Exploring Tokyo’s Cultural Heart
Back in Tokyo, we explored some of the city’s most iconic cultural landmarks.
The peaceful Meiji Shrine offered a moment of quiet reflection, surrounded by forest.
In contrast, Senso-ji Temple was vibrant and full of life.
These contrasts are what make Tokyo so compelling.
And from a storytelling perspective, they add depth and richness.
An Evening of Culture, Performance and Celebration
The final evening in Japan was a celebration of everything that makes the country so special.
A beautifully curated dinner hosted by geisha.
Performances filled with precision, grace and tradition.
And moments of energy and spectacle brought to life by samurai displays.
It was immersive, elegant and unforgettable.

One of the biggest challenges of an assignment like this is not the photography itself.
It is keeping up with the pace.
The schedule is intense.
The travel constant.
The expectations immediate.
Juliet embraced this fully.
Editing on the move became part of the rhythm.
Laptop open in transit, in vehicles, between locations, whenever a moment allowed.
It required focus and discipline, but it ensured that the story was not only captured, but delivered in real time.
