Cadillac City: Photographing General Motors’ Flagship Electric Experience Centre
There are certain locations in the world where everything just aligns.
Architecture. Atmosphere. Energy.
And then, every now and again, a project lands that brings all of that together in one extraordinary space.
Photographing Cadillac City Paris, the flagship all-electric showroom for General Motors, was exactly that.
Positioned directly opposite the iconic Opéra Garnier, this was never going to be a standard retail environment. It is a space where heritage meets innovation. Where Parisian elegance meets cutting-edge automotive design. And where every detail has been considered not just for function, but for experience.
For JL Creative, and for lead photographer Juliet on location in Paris, this was a project that demanded a refined, thoughtful approach to commercial interior photography.
Luxury Automotive Showroom Design in Paris
Cadillac City Paris is not a traditional showroom.
It is a lifestyle destination. A brand immersion. A statement of intent as Cadillac re-enters the European market with a fully electric future.
From the moment you enter, the journey begins.
A long, cinematic corridor introduces the world of Cadillac through music, film and design heritage, drawing you into a bright, airy conservatory space before opening into the main showroom. Here, the Cadillac LYRIQ and OPTIQ sit confidently at centre stage, framed by expansive digital screens and architectural detailing that feels both bold and beautifully restrained.
Upstairs, the experience softens.
The mezzanine level offers a more relaxed, considered environment, with lounge-style seating, private consultation areas and customisation zones. It feels less like retail, and more like stepping into a high-end members’ space.
This contrast between energy and calm, between spectacle and intimacy, is what makes the space so compelling to photograph.
Working in the Heart of Paris
There is something undeniably special about photographing in Paris.
And when your shoot location sits in the Opéra district, surrounded by Haussmannian architecture and the rhythm of central Paris, it elevates the entire experience.
Stepping out each morning, camera bags packed, and seeing the grandeur of the Opéra Garnier just moments away is not something you take for granted.
Paris brings:
- A timeless architectural backdrop
- Beautiful, ever-changing natural light
- A sense of culture, design and artistry in every direction
It is a city that naturally complements high-end commercial photography, and this project sat perfectly within that context.

Photographing High-End Automotive Interiors
Photographing a space like Cadillac City Paris is about far more than documenting interiors.
It is about understanding how the space works, how people move through it, how light interacts with materials, and how each design decision contributes to the overall experience.
At JL Creative, we approach every project with that deeper level of understanding.
This means capturing:
- The full architectural scale of the showroom
- The flow between different zones and levels
- The interplay between digital installations and physical design
- The craftsmanship in materials, finishes and structural features
One of the standout features of this project was the exquisite, listed staircase. A centrepiece that required careful composition to honour both its architectural heritage and its place within a modern retail environment.
Stepping back. Moving closer. Refining angles.
Always with intention.
Professional Showroom Photography Approach
For this project, Juliet worked with a combination of high-performance Canon systems to ensure both technical precision and creative flexibility.
Core kit included:
- Canon EOS R5 mirrorless body
- Canon 5D Mark IV bodies
- 16–35mm f2.8 wide-angle lens for architectural coverage
- 50mm and 24mm prime lenses for depth and detail
Wide-angle lenses allowed the full scale of the showroom to be captured cleanly, particularly important in the double-height spaces and open-plan areas.
Meanwhile, the prime lenses brought a different dimension.
Detail. Texture. Atmosphere.
The ability to shoot at wider apertures, such as f1.4, allowed for a more selective focus, drawing attention to specific design features while maintaining a soft, elegant background.
Working with Light: A Creative Challenge
Lighting played a huge role in this space.
Some areas were flooded with natural light, while others relied heavily on digital screens, ambient lighting and neon accents to create atmosphere. Rather than overpowering these elements with artificial lighting, the approach was to work with the environment and preserve the mood of the space.
The goal was to respect the design intent and capture the space as it is experienced in real life. This meant carefully balancing exposure, managing reflections and ensuring that the richness of the lighting design was not lost in the final imagery.
It is a subtle skill, but one that makes all the difference.
A Trusted Collaboration with Agilité Solutions
This project was delivered by the exceptional team at Agilité Solutions, a long standing client of JL Creative.
Having worked with Agilité Solutions across a number of international projects, there is a real sense of continuity and trust in how we collaborate. From high end retail environments in London to flagship spaces across Europe, each project builds on the last.
You can explore more of our work with Agilité, including our photography for the Paris Saint Germain flagship store in Paris, the Alo retail spaces on Regent Street and King’s Road, and the TALA stores in Carnaby Street and Westfield.
This ongoing partnership allows us to approach every new project with deeper insight, stronger creative alignment and a shared commitment to excellence.
And it shows. Their attention to detail is second to none. Their communication is clear, consistent and proactive, and their ability to deliver complex, high end projects with precision is genuinely impressive.
From Alo on Regent Street to TALA on Carnaby Street and flagship projects across Paris, working with Agilité feels very much like being part of an extended team.
That level of collaboration allows us to do what we do best. To anticipate, to understand, and to deliver imagery that goes beyond the brief.
How Showroom Photography Supports Brand & Sales
The photography created from a project like this has a far greater purpose than simply documenting the finished space.
It becomes a powerful business asset.
These images are used across:
- Marketing campaigns and brand storytelling
- Press and PR features
- Website portfolios and case studies
- Internal presentations and stakeholder reports
And crucially, they support future growth. Having a high quality, thoughtfully curated image library allows companies like Agilité and General Motors to showcase not just what they build, but how they build it.
The level of detail, the quality of execution, and the experience they create — that visual proof is invaluable.
Electric Future: Capturing Innovation Through Photography
Cadillac City Paris is more than a showroom. It represents a shift towards electrification, experience led retail, and environments designed not just to sell, but to connect.
Photographing it was an absolute honour. Capturing a space where heritage architecture meets future focused design in the heart of one of the world’s most iconic cities is exactly the kind of work we love at JL Creative.

FAQs: Commercial Interior Photography for Flagship Spaces
What makes flagship showroom photography different from standard retail photography?
Flagship spaces operate on a completely different level. They are designed as brand statements, often incorporating architecture, technology and customer experience in a far more immersive way. Photographing them requires a deeper understanding of storytelling, spatial flow and how to capture both scale and detail within a single cohesive set of images.
How do you photograph large, multi-level spaces effectively?
It comes down to planning and perspective. We carefully map out key vantage points, ensuring we capture wide architectural shots as well as more intimate detail images. Working across different levels also requires consistency in composition so the final gallery feels cohesive and easy to navigate.
How do you handle challenging lighting conditions in modern showrooms?
Many contemporary spaces use a mix of natural light, LED screens and feature lighting. Rather than overriding this, we work with it. This ensures the final images reflect the true atmosphere of the space while still maintaining clarity and balance.
How are these images typically used by clients?
The imagery is incredibly versatile. Clients use it for marketing, PR, website content, award submissions and internal documentation. It is also a key asset for bid teams, helping to visually demonstrate capability and past success when pitching for new projects.
Why work with JL Creative for commercial interior photography?
We bring a combination of technical expertise, creative insight and real-world experience working on high-end international projects. We understand not just how to photograph a space, but how that imagery will be used. That means we consistently deliver work that supports our clients’ business goals, not just their visual portfolio.
